Mother's Day is just around the corner and we couldn't be more excited! Our moms deserve the world, and this is the one day in the year that we get to set aside and make extra special for our moms to show her how much we love her and all that she means to us. This year we wanted to step outside of the norm and create a list full of unique ways to celebrate your mom on Mother's Day. Our moms deserve to spend Mothers Day doing something exciting, fun, and special to their personalities. Some moms want nothing more than to spend the day relaxing while enjoying some peace and quiet while other moms would love something a bit more exciting like hiking or zip lining. Whether your mom is adventurous or loves to curl up with a good book or movie at home, we put together a list of our favorite Mother's Day ideas that your moms are sure to love below!
1. Treat her to a spa day
Book a spa appointment for your mom and get her some well deserved me time, or make it a girl’s day and enjoy an entire day of bonding time together while being pampered. This is a simple activity that requires only a small amount of planning. All you need to do is make a reservation! Check out our newsletter here for more local businesses!
2. Go camping
If your mom is the kind of woman who loves spending time outdoors, there’s no better way to spend quality time with the entire family than pitching a few tents and roasting some marshmallows around a fire. Just make sure that the rest of your family are the ones preparing all of the camping supplies and food while your mom gets to sit back and relax for the day.
3. Book a hot yoga session.
Does mom like yoga? Going to a hot yoga class is a fun experience that everyone can be a part of and might be the perfect activity your mom would love to do this Mother’s Day. Consider making it even more special by hiring a private yoga teacher for a one-on-one morning or afternoon hot yoga session. One of our favorite hot yoga places is HOTWORX which is located in Wheaton's townsquare. You won't want to miss checking this place out!
4. Go on a picnic
Everyone loves a good picnic. If your mom loves the outdoors, this is a fantastic option to enjoy all of your moms favorite foods while surrounded by nature. Pack all of your mom's favorite dishes and deserts that you can think of along with a cute picnic blanket, and you'll be all set to go!
5. Take a trip to the farmer’s market.
The local farmer's market is an excellent place to spend a morning. Browse flowers, sample some farm-fresh snacks, and maybe even do a little shopping for your evening’s dinner while you're there.
6. Help your mom with a project
If your mom loves getting projects accomplished whether they be in her home our outside of it, give her the best gift of all by lending a helping hand. Help her with whatever tasks need to be done and enjoy spending time together. Not only will she appreciate your help, but you'll also get to spend quality time together.
7. Be creative
Does your mom enjoy crafting? Brainstorm a few ideas ahead of time with her input on what she might enjoy making. Prepare all the tools and supplies needed in advance such as paper, canvases, paints, colored pencils etc. and lay them all out ahead of time so that your mom doesn’t need to participate in the prep or clean up.
8. Try a new recipe.
Do you have a fun recipe that you and your mom have been dying to make? Why not try it together? If your mom loves to cook, this is the perfect idea for her! No matter what she says, make sure that you're the one who does all the prep and clean up for the recipe.
9. Day trip surprise!
Surprise your mom with a spontaneous, family day trip somewhere close by. Make sure to plan your day ahead of time so you know what you're doing and not completely winging Mother’s Day. Know the route you're going to take, how long it will take to get there, where you’ll be spending the day, and what the best places to eat are.
10. Have a photoshoot.
Capture this Mother’s Day with some beautiful photos and make a whole day out of it. Get ready by visiting a salon or getting ready at home, and get your mom all dressed up. Hire a local photographer in advance to help capture the fun while creating unforgettable memories along the way. Make it all about your mom if she would love a solo photoshoot, or turn it into a family photoshoot this Mother's Day.
Whether you stay home or go out to celebrate is entirely up to what your mom would enjoy most. No matter what you decide to do this Mother's Day, we know that your mom is going to love simply spending time with you. Let us know your favorite Mother's Day activity and what your plans are for your mom's special day this year!
